A Suicide Bomber is an individual who carries an improvised explosive device (IED) on their person to detonate in a location with the intention of taking the lives of bystanders as well as their own.
The primary response to a suspected suicide bomber is to clear the area of Building Occupants and avoid contact with the individual.
Potential indicators of a Suicide Bomber:
- An individual who is alone and very nervous.
- Unseasonable dress – heavy or bulky clothing on a hot day.
- Obvious or awkward attempts to blend in with building occupants.
- Repeated or nervous handling of parts of clothing.
- Profuse sweating.
- Slow paced walking while focusing side to side.
- Exposed wires, especially coming from sleeves.
- Rigid or unnaturally bulky midsection.
- Clenched fists.
- Obvious attempts to avoid security personnel.
- Hesitant, nervous muttering.
- Individual who is heavily perfumed.
- Individual who appears to have recently shaved for the first time after a prolonged period. (Lighter skin tone in area of facial hair growth, large number of cuts or scrapes to face.)
None of these factors alone are conclusive of a potential Suicide Bomber. The above listed indicators may serve to raise your level of suspicion and merit further observation or investigation of the individual.
