INCIDENT DEFINITION

EXPLOSION:
BOMB

An Explosion due to a Bomb, either Human or Device, is considered a malicious incident and will generate a Law Enforcement investigation.

Bombs can be in packages, on humans, or in vehicles. Each, depending on its size and contents and the Building's structure, may cause differing levels of damage.

It is often difficult to determine initially whether the explosion was caused by a bomb or a mechanical failure, depending on the location of the explosion.

In any bombing incident the possibility of secondary devices must always be considered.

An explosion occurring as a result of the failure or malfunction of one or more of the Building’s Mechanical Systems.

Initial Response should be the same as a Bomb Explosion until it is determined the incident is non-malicious in nature.
