BOMB: HUMAN

A Suicide Bomber is an individual who carries an improvised explosive device (IED) on their Personto detonate in a location with the intention of taking the lives of bystanders as well as their own.

The primary Response to a suspected suicide bomber is to clear the area of Building Occupants and avoid contact with the individual.

Potential indicators of a Suicide Bomber:

  • An individual who is alone and very nervous.
  • Unseasonable dress – heavy or bulky clothing on a hot day.
  • Obvious or awkward attempts to blend in with Building Occupants.
  • Repeated or nervous handling of parts of clothing.
  • Profuse sweating.
  • Slow paced walking while focusing side to side.
  • Exposed wires, especially coming from sleeves.
  • Rigid or unnaturally bulky midsection.
  • Clenched fists.
  • Obvious attempts to avoid Security Personnel.
  • Hesitant, nervous muttering.
  • Individual who is heavily perfumed.
  • Individual who appears to have recently shaved for the first time after a prolonged period. (Lighter skin tone in area of facial hair growth, large number of cuts or scrapes to face.)

None of these factors alone are conclusive of a potential Suicide Bomber. The above listed indicators may serve to raise your level of suspicion and merit further observation or investigation of the individual.
